1/ Mahindra XUV700
If you don’t know what to read on the XUV700, you’re not alone. By the way, this car with code W601 will be the new XUV500. I followed the same pattern. The transverse engine design, the three-row monochrome bodywork, and the XUV500 name didn’t matter. Yes, sales have fallen 10 years after launch, but they still have a good brand image. However, given that the W601 has improved over its predecessor, Mahindra believed that first class was sufficient. So he named the XUV700 in alphabetical order.
The naming strategy did two things. I installed the XUV700 first, then replaced the others with the XUV500 logo. The XUV700 supports the new platform, and the company says the new monocoque is 80 times more powerful than the XUV500 due to the increased number of spot-welded and glued seams. Mahindra has been trying to cut weight as the XUV700 monocoque frame features significantly lighter steel, greater traction, and other weight-reduction measures such as an engine that is about 70 kg lighter than before.
The total weight of the vehicle is 1,960-2,040 kg, which is still heavy but takes into account the additional equipment and safety features of the XUV700. Interestingly, the rear door is made of synthetic plastic to save weight. However, unlike sheet metal, which can be easily repaired in the event of an accident, plastic tailgates can be a practical problem as they may need to be replaced when the tailgate is closed. All-wheel drive and all-wheel drive options. But this time it’s designed to work with an upcoming 48-volt lightweight hybrid system. The engine range includes several new engines. Latest generation 2.2L.
Engine / Transmission
The new XUV700 SUV is available with gasoline or diesel engines. The 2.0-liter Mahindra M Stallion turbocharged gasoline engine produces 200 hp and 380 Nm, while the 2.2-liter mHawk four-cylinder turbo diesel engine is available in two variants.
This compact engine (for the first variant) produces 155 hp and 360 Nm, has a maximum output of 185 hp and 420 Nm (with automatic transmission), and the diesel engine has four operating modes: zip, zap, zoom, and custom Used in 6 – High-speed automatic and manual transmissions designed to change the performance and responsiveness of the steering wheel. It may be slow, but mostly. Dedicated diesel is available. Available for all-wheel-drive models.

2/ TATA Safari
Tata Motors unveiled its latest SUV, the new Safari, on Monday for 14.69 lakhs or more (at the Delhi showroom) for the 6/7 seater model. “Safari, as our new flagship, brings together the aspirations of customers who are demanding and developing SUVs. The new Safari is an impressive confirmation of our stated commitment to strengthening our presence in the fastest growing market segments.
We will once again make Safari dominate the roads of India, ”said Gunther Butschek, Managing Director and CEO of Tata Motors. 2.0-liter Kyrotech turbocharged diesel engine, 2741mm wheelbase, panoramic sunroof, and 8.8-inch floating island infotainment system with 6- and 7-seater options. It introduced India to the SUV lifestyle, and in its modern incarnation, the new Safari falls short of the diverse lifestyle of today’s SUV buyers.
Luxurious interiors, state-of-the-art connectivity, and of course Safari not only integrate but further enhance the quality of life. With the advent of the Adventure character, customers have more options to choose the Safari that best suits their personality in order to “claim their life.”
Engine / Transmission
The Tata Safari uses the same 170 hp 2.0-liter 4-cylinder diesel engine as the Harrier and is offered with a 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions. By hand, you have to deal with a heavy clutch that doesn’t move enough, and the gears require little effort in the groove.
The Tata Kryotec 170 Fiat-sourced diesel engine works best with the Hyundaisourced six-speed variable torque automatic transmission. The engine is characterized by the fact that gear changes occur on time, smoothly, and it is also quite responsive to manual gear changes using the gear lever.
The engine still growled and groaned under load, sounded a little shrill at launch, but everything calmed down quickly enough. What you’ll love is the overall power and ease with which Safari’s superb spinning engine is. The driving modes, namely Eco, City, and Sport, differ in power. r also helps to improve the driving experience.

4/ MG Hector
First off, Hector’s SUV is not mean Hector. The Hector is the same width and length as the standard model but also has a 2750mm wheelbase. The plus is usually 65 mm long, but the longer length is achieved only through the recycled buffer.
How does Hector differ from the standard Hector? The size, shape, and main profile are the same, but there are some external differences. First, Hector looks smoother. I lowered the flash value and used only chrome at first to make the grille look pretty (great result). Thanks to the frameless treatment, the grill looks a bit larger.
If it looks really good, you will notice a distinctive nod at the top of the LED DRL. The main LED headlight at the bottom has also been redesigned to give the bumper a cleaner look. At the back, as a plus, they removed the reflective strip connecting the taillights and Hector and installed a bumper.
The simulated exhaust looks redundant, but the biggest spoiler is the 17-inch alloy wheels, which look a little too small for a Hector-sized SUV. But the blue color of the new star is very beautiful.
Engine / Transmission
Hector SUV is available for three engines. It combines a 2.0-liter diesel engine with 170hp / 350Nm and a 6-speed MT with it. 1.5 liter turbo petrol with 143 hp / 250 Nm. 6-speed manual transmission and 6-speed automatic transmission are available and a 1.5-liter petrol engine with 143hp / 250Nm with a 6-speed manual transmission and a mild hybrid system. This is the Hector hybrid we’re driving.
The 1.5 turbo petrol engine doesn’t seem like enough for an SUV as heavy as the Hector (weighing over 1,700 kg), but it does the trick. The engine is boring, fast, and not exhilarating, but the average Hector driver has a reason like him. Electricity production is linear. There is a lot you can do if you want, and a high level of difficulty, which obviously increases your well-being.
A fairly light grip and light gear shifting will help, and the mild-hybrid system will do just that. work carefully. Fully charged performance and real efficiency will only become known as you spend more time with the HectorPlus Hybrid. But if you want to ride full-time on a regular basis, the Torquier Diesel is better for you.

5/ KIA Seltos
The Kia Seltos SUV is a mid-size urban SUV. With its sleek and sporty styling, the upright posture is a favorite with SUV buyers in India. Kia’s signature Tiger Nose grille takes center stage, and the Seltos also features a separate set of headlights to keep up with the latest styling trends. The attention to detail and overall quality is excellent. Interestingly, Kia sells the Seltos in two trim levels.
The Tech Line is exclusively for 1.5 petrol and diesel engines, and the sporty GT Line GT is only for 1.4 turbo petrol engines. The latter has some additional embellishments, such as red accents on the exterior, and is also the only one with an all-black interior theme. Riding and descending Sertos is easy and the high quality is reassuring. Inside, the quality and workmanship of materials are comparable to those of the most expensive European cars.
The instrument panel is neatly placed and the infotainment system is conveniently positioned above the driver’s line. The high-quality Seltos feature a state-of-the-art 10.2-inch touchscreen, easy-to-read instrument cluster, and front panel display. The driver’s seat ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, a 360-degree parking camera, and even an integrated air purifier are other Seltos features.
The front seats are comfortable to sit in, but the rear ones lose points due to the lack of hip support. The Seltos may not be the most spacious SUV at this price, but features like a retractable backrest and retractable sun visor enhance the rear seat experience.
Engine / Transmission
We haven’t had to test all the SUVs available in engine and transmission options yet, but the manual 1.5 diesel and the 1.4 turbo petrol are impressive. Diesel 115 hp is very demanding and works well. A good gearbox and moderately heavy clutch also make life easier.
If you are looking for a sports car, the 140 hp 1.4 turbo petrol engine is for you. The engine is smooth, powerful, and very good. In addition, the 7-speed dual-clutch automatic engine is excellent and responsive. What is missing is change.

6/ Maruti S-Cross
Cross Design and Cross Design Maruti Suzuki S-Cross is a terraced house between an SUV and a large hatch. S-Cross is designed to offer the best of both worlds, and life in India has been off to a rough start. No, in the end, he had no problems and was not critical at all far. It’s just that the hood has come off and the massive exterior doesn’t quite match what Indian buyers would expect from an SUV.
So it’s no surprise that the S-Cross, first introduced in 2015, hasn’t been a complete success. Initially, the S-Cross was equipped with two Fiat diesel engines. A 1.3-liter engine with 90 horsepower and an imported 130-horsepower wood chipper with 1.6 liters (a little fun). The latter was expensive and received fewer recipients, so it was discontinued in 2017 with the introduction of the latest S-Cross with a hybrid diesel system of around 1.3 liters. The tall windshield and new SUV-style chin provided the needed amount of muscle.
The price was good enough, but the average Marty SUV, for example, has never been as successful as the Hyundai Creta. And even if you don’t see the maximum performance, fast propulsion to 2020, a BS6 diesel, a new turbocharger, and a new model, does the naturally aspirated 1.5-liter S-Cross have much to offer? In particular, it should be noted that this section was made possible with the appearance of the second-generation Kia Seltus and Hyundai Creta.
Engine / Transmission
They use a 1.5-liter K15 ISG BS6 engine with 103 hp. and a maximum torque of 134 Nm. It is a powerful and well-thought-out machine that consumers should have on the road. The new engine features high cooling capacity and excellent NVH performance, while also delivering ARAI certified mileage of 18.55 km / l for fuel economy.
It promotes next-generation hybrid technology with dual battery features such as automatic start and stops, torque assist, and brake energy recovery. Intelligent hybrid technology can be used with new intelligent features to detect and improve demanding performance. For the first time, the Escrow is equipped with a 4-speed automatic transmission and a 5-speed manual transmission. Drive comfortably, climb hills, and have an unforgettable driving experience.

7/ Hyundai Creta
The 2nd generation Creta has just arrived in SA, with new (and basic) changes to its predecessor. These replicas are initially produced in a new factory in India. Despite the similarities between Hyundai and its famous cousin Kia Certus, the models are produced in various factories. The new engine is based on a new platform that includes a number of new engines, mated to a 1.4-liter turbo petrol engine coupled with a dual-clutch transmission.
However, this is a description of a “reasonable” executive derivative with an average profile of 1.5. Let’s start with the elephant in the room. Many potential buyers don’t want to see the unique, polar and daring side of a newcomer at the same time. The previous Creta was designed and marketed conservatively (a huge success) in terms of practicality, functionality and cost performance. This refurbishment adds more to Crete than its sibling’s headquarters, but at the same time expects the new Crete to frown like the first Nissan joke to hit the market! Tucson could destroy the crowd in the future.
The new Creta inherits the new sporty and exciting design language of modern times. It relies heavily on narrow-angle LED headlights and a bold windshield for daytime use. It will appear in almost all new models of Korean brands such as Tucson, Santa Fe, and Palisade. do we love her Well, design criticism is purely subjective?
Other people’s art is a fuss. Car design is now boring and predictable, so final decisions are impossible, and today we have to admire designs that serve this purpose. Whether you like it or not, it will definitely get people talking.
Engine / Transmission
The Hyundai Creta is powered by a new 1.5-liter 4-cylinder petrol engine. This is an example of a Smartstream powertrain that develops 85 kW and 144 Nm. In terms of powertrain, the new car is equipped with what Hyundai calls IVT (Smart Variable, which is a marketing ploy for an automatic CVT (Continuous Drivetrain), and before all the petrol heads among them, if you run away in horror, let us tell you why This engine/gearbox combination is a must.
Smooth and efficient, almost without further, it will keep the engine revs as low as possible, but if you lightly press the Creta throttle to add up all available torque when overtaking the car at a slower rate (which you have to do with the time given that there is an average of 144 Nm available), the transmission eliminates this boring drone with a CVT.
It doesn’t work. This is done, and thanks to the lightness of the Creta (1190 kg), the engine does not have to work so hard to keep up with traffic The end result is driving pleasure Y Quiet and efficient. At the end of its life in our test fleet, the 1.5 Executive delivered an impressive 6.7 L / 100 km, close to Hyundai’s stated 6.3 L / 100 km. that, so that we can easily live with the quirks of the variator. 8/ Mahindra Bolero Neo
The Boleroneo is in line with the TUV300 styling, but the changes for 2021 are not superficial. The entire body was lowered by the steering frame chassis, the overall row height was reduced by 20 mm and the bonnet was 40 mm lower than before. A quick comparison of the paper specs of the TUV300 and the Boleroneo looks similar, but the Boleroneo personally looks like a lot of decals with less space in the wheel arches.
Mahindra argues that the layout may be the only area where the Neo and Bolero are locked, but the ground clearance remains unchanged. Bolero looks solid and straight, and Neo looks slimmer and more elegant. The Mahindra is particularly reminiscent of the Bolero, with the addition of certain elements such as a scalloped radiator grille, a diagonal cutout on the front bumper, and round fog lamps. A distinctive design feature of the Bolero is the black shoulder pad that extends the length of the Neo Bolero, which some bolero wearers refer to as a “cow printer”.
This black finish also helps to disrupt the Neo’s visual height, darkening the B and C struts, small wheel arch gaps, and a prettier side profile with better overall positioning. Although the design of the 15-inch alloy wheels is different, the size is too small for the length of the body. The taillights are red (made with clear lenses for the 2019 TUV300 facelift), but the damaged roof and unpainted rear parking sensors remain. The spare X-shaped wheel cap remains intact, but now it is proudly engraved with the Bolero crest.
Engine / Transmission
Under the hood is a 1.5-liter three-cylinder diesel engine, which is shared with the Bolero but produces over 100 horsepower. The standard bolero produces 75 horsepower. New is the electronically controlled variable geometry turbocharger with a maximum torque of 260 Nm, which is 20 Nm more than the XUV300 of the same engine. Compared to the XUV 1200 rpm range, the maximum torque range is just over 500 rpm, from 1750 to 2250 rpm.
This engine is perhaps one of the most beautiful three-cylinder diesel engines in the world. It is sleek, performs well, and has very little vibration. The execution is focused on the wrong side and very sensitive to touch, combined with a short translation. The PSU is simple, it comes out of idle with minimal effort and can switch from low to low speed if you’re not in a rush. This engine rarely starts above 3500 rpm due to a lack of power.
There is no annoying noise when reaching a maximum speed of about 4500 rpm. This 1.5 liter remains in the comfort zone up to 100 km / h and then exhales. People who regularly drive at full power on highways and hills need more traction. Although the seat is a bit long, the 5-speed manual is easy to ride with a smooth and light grip. Not available at startup, but automatic parameters may be entered in the future.
