Although it is now more environmentally friendly, the 998cc inline four-cylinder engine still produces the same 208 horsepower and 116.5 Nm. This is achieved through internal adjustments that reduce friction. These include sintered valve guides and tappets with DLC. The redesigned exhaust system helps clean up emissions, while the new cam profile is designed to further reduce the torque coverage to the rev range.
